FORTE Networking Group works together to benefit Children's Diagnostics and Treatment Center
Children's Diagnostics & Treatment Center (CDTC) provides comprehensive prevention and treatment service to children and youth with special health care needs and their families. Established in 1983 when Broward County had one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country.
Children's Diagnostics & Treatment Center began with a staff of three in a small room in Broward General Hospital and his since grown to be the largest child healthcare provider in Broward County, serving over 10,000 children with chronic illnesses and disabilities annually. The Children's Diagnostics & Treatment Center is a not-for-profit nationally recognized Center of Excellence. The Center provides services responsive to the needs of vulnerable children which are coordinated, family-oriented and offered within a culturally competent, community based environment.
The WAVE House of CDTC is the "Women's Alternative Village of Empowerment" (WAVE) and was created with the vision of inspiring women to restore their potential through reconnection with their cultural roots, self-exploration through social skills, improvement in mental and physical health, job readiness/job search training, and self-empowerment that fosters independence. Through WAVE, women are encouraged to seek leadership positions to serve as role models and inspiration to others in the community.
The WAVE program fosters healing among women who have lived in poverty and suffered abuse and disrespect. Through communication with other women with similar experiences, hard work, and the willingness to begin their journey again, these women begin to recognize their individuality, their courage, and their potential for changing lives...their own lives and those of others. These women have become leaders throughout the community, and some, throughout this country.
FORTE is a networking group that meets weekly in Fort Lauderdale. Special thanks to Jim Leary for providing the trim paint and painting supplies, as well as all of the volunteers who came out to make a difference with Rebuilding Together and CDTC!
