Press Release
Event Summary

Annual Rebuilding Together Day
Rebuilding Together, Inc. is America’s largest volunteer based organization focused on revitalizing low-income houses and communities. The signature event for Rebuilding Together, Inc. and its 252 affiliates across the USA is our Annual Rebuilding Together Day. Here in Broward County our mission is to “preserve and revitalize houses and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled or families with children, live in comfort, safety, and independence. Our goal is to make a sustainable impact in partnership with communities.” Some of our programs include home repair, home safety modifications and non-profit entity improvements. In all 50 states, on the last Saturday in April, many communities will come together with a common goal of community service.

Meaningful Community Service
Individuals and organizations give of their time, talent, materials, services and financial contributions. This is a unique event that allows us to make our community better. Reaching out to others with a helping hand, motivated with the desire to give of oneself in recognition that we all can make a difference. The need for safe and sanitary living conditions is challenging for many low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, the disabled and families with children. Those individuals often do not have the money, skills or strength to address unsafe and unsanitary conditions at home. In Broward County there are more than 100,000 low-income single family houses including 35,000 occupied by homeowners living below the poverty level. We can help.

The Community of Boulevard Gardens
For this year we will be focusing our attention on the community Boulevard Gardens, located just north of Broward Boulevard and just west of I-95. Our ongoing mission is to deliver a significant community service that directly and immediately improves the lives of low-income homeowners, rejuvenates neighborhoods, strengthens civic organizations and engages hundreds of volunteers in improving our community.

Objectives
This annual community service project has three principle objectives: 1) Directly impact the quality of life of low-income homeowners by providing urgent home repairs. 2) Deliver a significant neighborhood improvement project by improving multiple homes and by providing neighborhood beautification. 3) Engagement of diverse individuals and organizations in community service that will promote the goal that Broward County is a caring and inclusive community.

Building Our Community
This event will bring together many individuals in the delivery of a community project through their time, talents and resources. Who benefits? The homeowners, their family, the neighborhood, the volunteers, sponsors and our community. This project enables the strengthening of human bonds and concept of community. Community service brings us all closer together by investing ourselves in each other; neighbors helping neighbors.

How can you participate? Sign up as a house captain or volunteer, many skills are needed. Sign up as a sponsor. Be involved in the planning or as a participant on April 29. Encourage others to be engaged in community service projects.
